| Young people attending the teenager's summer camp write about their lives and hopes for the future
Simona, 18 from Deva

Since I was born my parents didn't want me (they weren't married). So that I did not go to an orphanage or in other parts I was adopted by my grandparents, my father’s parents. Since then, nobody ever looked for me. Later I found out that the women who give birth to me died because her lungs were very sick. I wished to see her and know how she looked but I never did. My father is married and has his family and he forgot about me. Now I stay with grandmother because my grandfather died 9 years ago.
I'm not from a Christian family but I know God in a camp with those from Teius. Then God spoke to me and I realized that in His face I made mistakes and I'm a sinner so I asked forgiveness and I was penitent. The next years I was baptized and I indeed received Jesus in my heart. From then (2 years ago) my life changed a lot and I'm happy and fulfilled by God. I am grateful that he saved me.
I try hard to be like him, to show the people everywhere that he is love. I hope to succeed.
Anca aged 19 from Teius

My family has 6 members, my parents, a sister aged 17, (who is
married with her own child) and 2 brothers aged 12 and 8. My mother
is a Gypsy and my father is Romanian, we get along very nicely.
We speak Romanian at home (as opposed to Gypsy). I am in
High School in 11th grade and I have many ideas for the future.
I want to finish High school and then got to a good Christian
college.
I am a member of a church in Teius and I got baptised
3 years ago. I am also a member of a young people's group called
Fundatia Emanuel Betania. My parents are not Christians but I
am sure that in the future God will change them and they will
love him because I pray and hope in God. Eight months ago they
quit smoking, God worked in a miraculous way.
I work with many kids in my street. I tell them about Jesus. We go on trips together, we play games and learn songs, we have a good time together.
What I like most about the camp at Cugir was that I got closer to God. The theme of the camp said it all: "in our room with God". I enjoyed the worship, the singing and the nature around that God created.
Christina aged 20 from Teius

I am not at school any more but I would like to go very much, the problem is my parents do not have the money. In the future I would like to be a missionary, to go in the world and tell everyone about God.
What I liked most in this camp was that I could talk a lot with God. I am very happy with the miracle that God did in my life and that I am his child.
Elisa aged 18 from Teius

I didn't have expectations from the camp. I was touched by the
film called "And the Spear" based on reality about missionaries
working with the Wahini tribe in South America and who were prepared
to die for God. I would like to have this sort of dedication in
my life. I made a lot of new friends. It was a very successful
camp, everyone was involved and united.
Stuart aged 18 from England

I enjoyed my time at the Cugir camp. I was able to understand
how Romanian children had a strong relationship with God and were
therefore very exited to participate in a Christian camp. Many
of them had been on a Fundatia camp before and went to Cugir to
meet friends from previous years.
I liked meeting people I had seen when I came 2 years ago. I liked the singing. Other people preferred the sports such as volleyball and badminton or the walks.
For some people this was their first ever holiday and for others their only holiday since the last camp.
Simina aged 10 from Zalau
Simina was not actually part of the Fundatia group but part of another group staying at the hostel at the same time. It was her idea to write for the website and thus others were
encouraged to do so too.
I am at school in Zahlau and I am a member of a church called Hope. I want to be a journalist. In the camp in Cugir I experienced new activities and made new friends.
I felt good in this camp and I want to thank God for everything |
